via The Block winner tops 2011 :TV Tonight. Of the top 20 shows on Australian TV this year, I watched 4. The AFL Grand Final, The Melbourne Cup, and the first two episodes of Underbelly : Razor. Of those four, I watched the two sporting events live in a pub, and downloaded the two Underbelly episodes, so even if I did have a ratings box in my house, all four wouldn't have been counted. There's no point to this post, I just find it fascinating.

The Best, Worst Advertised Show on TV | Smogger

Terriers is not an easy show to market. When you eventually hear the concept in its most bare-bones construction – two low-rent private investigators solve cases while engaging in odd-couple dynamics in a beachside town – it sounds like approximately every other procedural that has ever been on television. Your Bones, your Mentalists, your Criminal Investigation Naval Security Committee Bayside Protection Units. But it isn’t like any of those shows. The differences are subtle, though. Terriers is very funny, without ever drawing any attention to its jokes. It’s exciting, but never sleek. There are moments of violence, but they arrive unexpectedly, never at the beats in the story we’ve been conditioned for, and they’re sloppy and awkward and look patently un-choreographed, fights between people who don’t know how to fight. There are self-contained weekly cases and an ongoing narrative.

Election Night Drinking Game

Media_httpwwwfulltime_aafaj

Here's a nice simple drinking game to make the election coverage tomorrow night a little more enjoyable. It's all based on the amount of times Eden Monaro is mentioned by the TV pundits. Background Eden Monaro is a big arse seat in southern NSW that stretches from the Southern Coast to The ACT. Because of this, it covers almost every demographic and swing voter in the land, from surfers to miners to farmers to loggers to hippies to working class Queenbeyan residents and middle class ACT beauracrats. Since 1972 the good people of Eden Monaro have always voted in the overall winner of the federal ballot, making it darling of federal election TV coverage. Beginners Or those wishing to remember tomorrow night, should drink whenever these facts are brought up, Eden Monaro is mentioned as the 'bellwether' seat, or pundits laugh and say things like "As Eden Monaro votes, so does Australia". More recently the phrase "Australia's Florida" can be added to the drinking list. Advanced Or heavy drinkers should simply drink whenever Eden Monaro is mentioned. Remember; it's a big arse seat, it takes a long time for all booths to send in their results, you will drink all night and often. Good luck tomorrow and may the best woman win.
